See, Think, Wonder

Source: S. T. Gill, Kangaroo Stalking, 1865. Reproduced with permission of the Gold Museum, Ballarat.

See:

A log, two people behind the log (one white and one aboriginal), one man has a gun, there is a puddle of water next to them, the white man is wearing a hat, the indigenous man is wearing a cloth, there are two kangaroos hiding in a bush, the aboriginal man is not wearing shoes.

Think:

I think that the indigenous man is watching the white man hunt kangaroos.

Wonder:

I wonder whether he will eat the kangaroos or turn them into coats.

Avatars

Avatars are online characters that look like you that you can use to show people what you look like without showing them your actual face. This is my avatar.

I have blonde hair and blue eyes just like my avatar and my favourite colour is blue, which is why I am wearing a blue T-shirt. Also, most of my shoes are black which is why I am wearing black shoes and I love to dance, which is why my character is on a dance floor. Do you have an avatar? What does it look like?

Library Reflection – Term 1

Hello,

This post is about my experiences in library and book chat this term. My favourite genre of books is humour because I love to laugh and I can sometimes relate to the characters in the stories. Some books that I suggest in this genre are:

• The Treehouse series, The 13 Storey Treehouse, The 26 Storey Treehouse, etc.

  • The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, The Long Haul, Wrecking Ball, The Third wheel, etc.

I like these books because of all the crazy things the characters get up to such as being arrested by the story police or being kicked out of your home by a story-writing robot.

The book chat book that I am reading at the moment is See You in the Cosmos by Jack Cheng and it is about an eleven year old boy Alex who is making recordings on his golden iPod that he is going to launch into space at S.H.A.R.F. which is a space convention. On his journey he meets lots of people and makes lots of new friends. I believe that it is a great book that is worth reading.

Goodbye for now.

My First Month in Year 5

The first month in year five has been filled with lots of excitement. My teacher is Mrs. Straford and we have done lots of fun things such as.

  • bike riding
  • swimming
  • triathlon
  • juggling

We are about to start doing rock-climbing. So far my highest amount of catches in a row is three. The juggling is part of our unit for the term which is building learning power, we have been watching lots of videos about the brain and synapses and strengthening neural pathways. So far year five has been amazing. Here is a photo from the triathlon.

Goodbye

How to Play Maths War (Multiplication)

You need: Playing cards

  1. Take out the picture cards; jokers, jacks, kings etc.
  2. Shuffle the cards
  3. Split the deck in half
  4. Give one half of the deck to yourself and give the other half to the other person
  5. Start playing the game by, at the same flipping the top card of each pile and placing it in front of you
  6. Yell out the product of these two numbers, for example: if there was 4 and 5 you would yell out 20
  7. The person who answers correctly first gets both cards and creates a new pile next to their cards
  8. Repeat until there are no more cards
  9. Count the cards, the person with the most wins
